Last year was the inaugural Wings and Wheels event that took place at Aviation Technologies, located at the Wilkes Barre Scranton International Airport. We were very pleased with the outcome. The event attracted over 2000 spectators and raised $10,000 for the Corporate Angel Network.
We had a variety of impressive aircraft last year. One was the T-33 Canadian Fighter jet, also known as the “Mako Shark”. Another was the “Spirit of Freedom”, a C-54 transport cargo plane used in the Berlin Airlift. The “Spirit of Freedom” is also a flying museum that can be toured!
The Pocono Mountain Street Rods ran the car show, and they attracted 180 classic car participants to compete in our event.
At the event, there were displays of Aviation Technologies’ Flight School and Wilkes Barre Scranton International Airport. For more info on the Flight School, visit http://www.aviation-technologies.com/flight-school/. We also had face painting and an Ice Princess for the kids!
There were plenty of food trucks at last years Wings and Wheels Event. There was food by “Rollin’ Dough” known for their wood fired pizza, “Big Belly’s BBQ” (Who completely sold out of awesome BBQ sandwiches), ice cream by “Chilly Willy”, and awesome boneless chicken wing bites from “Nina’s Bite Mobile”!
Thank you to our many sponsors last year that helped make Wings and Wheels a success! We were happy to be able to present CAN with a $10,000 contribution! Hopefully this year we will surpass last years donation, and be able to present the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors with a contribution that will help many of our local soldiers.
